Summertime with The Andersons

As told by Ryan...

Ishie’s “gradyation”: Jen invited me to come with her and her family to her sister’s high school graduation. I thought it would be fun, but was a little anxious to ride with her grandpa. We left a little later than we wanted, but ended up making it on time for the family lunch.  It was really fun to see everyone so excited for Ashley. This was one of first times I really got to get to know some of Jen’s home friends and family.

Once we finished partying, Jen and I got a ride back to provo with her grandpa. He told us some fun stories of his life. I was interested in his history as a dealer of grumman aircraft and all of his flying stories. Once home, Jen and I went on a walk and had a great time sharing thoughts and ideas.

Seven Peaks:  The summer was a great chance for me to hang out with her family. one of our favorite things to do together was to go to the different water parks. We all had season passes and would go fairly often. we got pretty tan and had so much fun going down tube slides with groups, or super tall freefall drop slides. We also got to play with my little nephew, Carson, in the kiddie section a few times. It was so fun to go down the kiddie slides and splash around on the playground with him. Jen made a great impression as a potential wife/mother.

Fireworks: Jen’s neighborhood golf course hosts an annual firework show. In honor of the Fourth of July, Her family hosted a big, fun barbeque with her friends and relatives. The firework show (oddly held on the 3rd was the day before) was so much fun to see. It was a really well done show and there was a huge crowd. On the way home we got to meet many people in Jen’s ward who all reassured me I was dating the best.

I think for the BBQ we ate burgers, steaks and ribs, all prepared by Jen’s dad and his friends. My friend Brian got to tell all the embarrassing stories about me that he could, which made for quite the funny night.

Snack and Stroll: Jen’s Neighborhood has a fun tradition for the Sunday evenings during the summer. There are several different families that take turns signing up to host a snack in front of their houses. Families get to walk around the streets, seeing friends and neighbors and get to have a chat with each other over snacks. It makes for quite the friendly neighborhood. Well, Jen invited me up occasionally to come to dinner and “snack and stroll” or “snack and ROLL” as my sister and I argued. It was very nice to meet and interact with her neighborhood as well as enjoy some tasty treats.

Park City: For my birthday, Jen made me a “pass” for an awesome birthday weekend trip. When we got back to Utah from our California trip, She took me up to Park City, where she treated me to lunch and an all day pass for the attractions at Park City Mountain Resort. We had the best mexican food for lunch, and then got to ride the alpine slides and coaster! It was extremely fun. once the lines got long, we took a break and went shopping at the outlets. after some fun experiences at bath and bodyworks, we headed back to the mountain and finished the night with back to back alpine coaster rides.
